Spooky Summer Quilt Along Week 12 is here!
Week #12 – Assembly
This is it. The moment we’ve been working towards! This week, we are officially putting the finishing touches on our spooky lil friends and assembling our quilt tops!

So far, we’ve sewn our ghost bodies together. (I mean… ghost bodies? Is that not an oxymoron? Haha!)
Now, you’ll cut the rest of your background fabric and then sew the rows to the right and left side. Finally, you’ll sew the rows to the top and bottom to finish.
Background Cutting
From your background fabric you’ll cut:
- 2 strips 8 1/2’’ x WOF for the top border (leftover will be used for bottom border)
- 4 strips 6 1/2’’ x WOF for the side borders
- 1 strip 5 1/2’’ x WOF for the bottom border (leftover from the top border will be used to complete this border)
Assembly
1. Measure your quilt center horizontally through the center.
From the background fabric, trim a top border:
- 8 1/2” x 48 1/2’’ (if using 8” triangles), or to fit your measurements.
From the background fabric, trim a bottom border:
5” x 48 1/2’’ (if using 8” triangles), or to fit your measurements.
2. Sew the top and bottom borders to the quilt center. Press away from the center, or press open.

2. Repeat step 1 to measure the quilt vertically, trim two side borders:
6 1/2” x 69 1/2” (if using 8” triangles), or to fit your measurements.
Finally, add the side borders. Press again to complete the quilt top.

Ta Da! We did it! Snap a pic and celebrate with us. And then… go to your nearest pumpkin patch or fall fest and snap a pic in the wild!
