Quilt finishes are a wrap! It’s been a long process and all of the sudden, we’re here. Aurora BOM live sew-in sessions wrapped up, we’re busy finishing quilts and starting the Echo BOM.
I have so many awesome quilts to show you – gulp – it takes my breath away. See all of the finished quilts and progress in the slideshow below. Just WOW.
But first, a few stories from the past month. Curl up with toasty socks and a cuppa…and some Kleenex. These stories remind me why we are better together and how the best of us supports all of us in our community.
Point of no return…or not?
Wendy V. reached out to members in frustration:
I am ditching my Aurora. It isn’t coming together — hardly anything is matching up. And I am sick about it. I painstakingly measured every piece and although not perfect I just can’t seem to get anything to match. I am super frustrated and am actually kinda sick to my stomach. I put so much time into this creation. Any suggestions before I throw it in the garbage?
Members responded quickly with encouragement – this wasn’t going to happen on their watch.
Quilters know that quilts can be challenging – even the simplest projects can run amok. It’s a soothing activity for many of us, until it isn’t.
We juggle stitch length, stretchy bias and wonky fabric grain when piecing blocks together. The seam ripper comes out and often. Then, sewing all of the completed blocks together is – let’s be honest – not a perfect endeavor. Frankly, it’s surprising if, and when, it all comes together!
But they are beautiful, right? We did it. WE’VE MADE THIS.
We aren’t going to let Wendy, or any quilter in our group, not do this. Not on our watch!
Speaking of beautiful quilt Finishes
The two rainbow palette quilts below show how each quilter uniquely chose her colors and layout. I always love a great rainbow quilt!
Adrienne H. created her own rainbow color palette with tone-on-tone and print fabrics. We love the ripple and shimmery effects! Congratulations, Adrienne!
Jennifer L. created a big impact version in rainbow colors. We love the black and white contrast and how she made Aurora her own. Congratulations, Jennifer!
Carmen S. combined soft batiks with a gradation into sharp edges. Wow! She made an original design with Aurora with her fabric and color choices. Congratulations, Carmen!
Solstice remains popular (has it been four years already?) and Make Modern Triangles member Maureen P. created a beautiful, fascinating interpretation. Congratulations, Maureen!
And one more little story for you. Patty G. posted:
“I finally finished my first quilt top ever! I am happy with it and learned a lot. Thanks Rebecca! I would change the colors of the arrows for more contrast if I had to do it again. There are several puckers, but for my first, I’m okay. I know better for my next quit!”
“WHAT?! Your first quilt top EVER?” we hollered.
Congratulations quickly poured in for Patty. It was exciting and fun and we’re just so darn proud of her and all our first-timers in the Make Modern Triangles Club!
So much more to see in the slideshow below. You’ve a sip and here’s the full glass of color and creativity.

I love this article. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought of ditching my Aurora. I had a rough end of 3024. But, ducked it up and figured I could do it. I had all the resources, except videos. Almost half done.
