Members Make Curved Blocks
Make Modern Triangles members were excited to make curved blocks after months of triangle-making for the Aurora block of the month quilt. Mixing in curved seams was a fun challenge for me as a designer and a good curved piecing lesson for newbies.
Of course, members rose to the challenge. Plenty of oopsies but they didn’t give up. They hit that curved block outta the park! Watch the short slideshow below to see all the circle blocks that members made.
While they sewed many, many straight seams, members knew sewing curves were ahead. Each month they asked when the curved block would unveil itself with full instructions. Pressure! I was happy to deliver in Month 8.
CurveD BLOCKS Piecing TUTORIAL
To take the edge off (hehe), I added a curved blocks piecing tutorial for members inside the Make Modern Triangles Club. Using the pinning method gives me consistent results. While it takes time to pin the curves together, it’s worth it. Because that time could be spent on ripping and sewing a seam again and again. You KNOW how I KNOW so I stick to pins.
