Title banner for blog post that reads Member Makes, TA DA Moments, September 2022, Sparkler modern triangle BOM

Sparkler BOM member makes and the Spooky Summer Quilt Along-ers are nearing the finish line. That means more ta-da moments! And so far, it looks like no “boos” allowed in this spooky show and tell.

Just the cutest “ghouls” around this town.

Sparkler BOM members are making progress in September on all of the BOM blocks. Whether a member is on Month 3 (Yay, Kathy M.!), trying out a Twirly Star freezer paper-pieced block #47 (a free class here) double-timing with Boos and Ghouls triangle blocks, progress is soooo possible.

MORE MEMBER MAKES = ME MORE GIDDY!

By this time in a Make Modern Triangles BOM, I’m feeling the same way I did when I designed the Sparkler last year: giddy!

More quilts, more blocks, more progress and more tada moments!

Even though we’re focused on making the Sparkler BOM in 2022, finished quilts from Bryan House Quilts patterns pop up every month – like Ann U.’s Wildflower that recently won the Viewer’s Choice award at the Gems of the Prairie Quilt Guild. Congratulations, Ann!

SEPTEMBER’s SEW STORM

Many members have been sewing nose-to-needle in August and September – Jakki C., Teresa B., Carolyn B. and Kathy M. and many others posted their progress in the Triangle Chatter Facebook group,

aaaand….Spooky Summer Quilt Along is at Week 11 (already!?) with two to go. Some MMT members need more triangly fun so they are making a Boos & Ghouls quilt, too. QAL’s are a great way to practice freezer paper piecing with modern triangles.

Kathy M. posted: “My recent work – Block 21 and Block 5 and 6. I have completed 56 four-inch blocks. I will have to wait until I return in early October before trying layouts – more grandchildren time is on the schedule!”

SPARKLER BOM MEMBER MAKES

The block sets are forming and design walls are filling up fast in September. The blocks appear even more colorful because they are next to their colorful neighbors – they’re all better together! Take a look at these beauties…

Sparkler BOM member Kathy C. finished a block set of four triangles blocks in yellow, gold, magenta and blue fabrics.
Sparkler BOM member Gayle K. finished a block set of teal and gold modern triangle blocks.
Sparkler BOM coloring page is filled in with colored pencil by MMT Club member Kristina S.

Oh! That suh-weeeeet feeling when you color in a finished block set. Right, Kristina?!

Sparkler BOM member Lillian N. finished a block set of teal and gold modern triangle blocks.
DONE. Check!
Barb M. finished a block set of teal, gray and cream modern triangle blocks for the Sparkler quilt pattern.

This is the Block-ness Monster of quilt photos: “She made how many blocks? I have to see it to believe it!”

MMT member Julia W. finished the center medallion of the Sparkler quilt.
MMT member Sandy Q. shows her design wall with the completed triangle blocks in a layout view.

Sandy Q.‘s complementary color scheme is brilliant – look at how the yellows and golds twinkle!

Thank you to all our members for sharing your modern triangle progress and ta-da moments!

My work-in-progress pile is getting to the point w My work-in-progress pile is getting to the point where I am not allowing myself to start anything new until I finish something else. 😅

I love starting things. I love the fabric pull and the “ooh what if…” energy and that first seam where everything still feels full of possibility.

But lately, I’ve been looking at my stack of half-done quilts and realizing… I don’t actually want more beginnings. I want more endings.

I want that moment when the blocks finally hit the design wall, and the entire pattern starts to come to life. When I step back and think, “Wow. I made that!”

The best way to learn is to just start. 👇 So many The best way to learn is to just start. 👇

So many people think things like...

“That’s way too detailed.”
“I could never make that.”
“I don’t have time for that.”
“I’m not creative enough.”

And every single year, we have complete beginners and first-time quilters inside the Make Modern Triangles Club that make their very own quilt from start to finish. 🪄

All of my programs are accessible for brand-new quilters to learn and sew along, so that they end up with something beautiful that they made themselves.

And the best part, is that you’re not alone. You’ll be learning and sewing alongside a community of ALL different skill-levels, and you’ll have the entire group to support you along the way. 🫶

so if you’re someone who has been thinking about quilting but you think you couldn’t do it, or it looks too hard, I challenge you to just start. You never know what you might create.

We all have that one technique we avoid. For me... We all have that one technique we avoid. For me... It’s needle turn appliqué! 🤭

Maybe it’s curved piecing... or resizing a block because the math (duh!). Or maybe it’s that pile of scraps that continues to go untouched because you’re afraid you might waste them. 👀

What if you could conquer all of that in just one week?

The Quilters Paradise Summit (QP26) is coming up March 9-16, and I am so excited to be a part of it! It is the biggest online event for quilters who want to level up their creative journey.

During the online summit, you’ll learn how to:

✅ Resize ANY quilt block using a simple grid method (no more guessing!).
✅ Conquer curves using the “boob and bra” analogy (yes, really!) for perfect Drunkard’s Paths.
✅ Master Serger Quilting to piece, bind, and finish quilts faster.
✅ Design custom quilt labels using free tools like Canva.
✅ Transform scraps into “bricks,” “crumbs,” and stunning art pieces.

And the best part? It’s all coming to you FREE during the summit! 🎟️

I’ll be teaching alongside 25+ incredible experts in the quilting industry. Comment “SUMMIT” to reserve your spot for free! ✨
