Two BOM Quilts at a Time

Block of the Month Quilt· work in progress

13 Aug

Two BOM quilts at a time is very doable. Quilters do it all the time because, well, working on one project makes us want to start ANOTHER project. That’s how we’re built.

Dutch Summer BOM

During month 6 Dutch Summer BOM blocks, our Make Modern Triangles members took on another BOM in between: Alchemy.

A WHOPPING TWO QUILTS AT A TIME

This month’s slideshow is a whopper and a half with Alchemy in the mix! And you will see 7 different block of the month quilts in progress. Seven! If you can’t even wait, hop on down to the end and watch the show (don’t miss this one).

I’m not totally surprised at how they have jumped into Alchemy because they said THEY CANNOT WAIT for the next month’s BOM block drop. Waiting is hard, I get it.

To fix the lull, (full disclosure, I couldn’t wait a whole year to release Alchemy) we started Alchemy. I released it in the middle of Dutch Summer BOM. This has spurred members to sew in record numbers this past month.

THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH TWO QUILTS AT A TIME

Besides enjoying the Alchemy piecing process, members cited only one problem: not enough room on their design walls! Blocks are overflowing onto beds, floors, and tables.

TAKING TIME TO CELEBRATE

We’ve got great finishes from our members, starting off with Gwen M. and her Echo quilt in many blues. Congratulations on your beautiful finish, Gwen!

Two quilts at a time is doable for Gwen. She completed her Echo quilt while working on Alchemy.

Next up is Duayna S., who completed her first freezer paper piecing project using the Magic Mini pattern to make the prettiest pillow. Congratulations, Duayna for learning new skills and turning them into this. The center floral print is extra pizzaz-y!

Duayna made her first freezer paper piecing project in purples and pinks for a pillow.

Amy H. chose an analogous color scheme in yellows and greens. Those colors are close on the color wheel but the contrasts are stunning. Congratulations, Amy on making this beauty!

Finishing a top is a big deal around here. Months go by and then all of the sudden, it’s done. It’s a milestone for sure so we’re celebrating Nancy L.’s Echo top in jewel tones. Congratulations, Nancy on finishing this colorful, creative quilt top!

THE WAIT IS OVER! Let’s Watch the Slideshow!

Click the Play button to head on over to my YouTube channel. If you’re working on two quilts at a time right now, permission granted to stop sewing and watch the slideshow!

Happy Quilting,

xo Rebecca

We’re finally getting to the good part. 😏 Just a We’re finally getting to the good part. 😏

Just a couple more batches of modern triangle blocks, and next thing you know, we will be assembling our quilt tops!

Around this time in the block of the month programs is so exciting because you can really start to see things coming together. You have stacks of completed modern triangle blocks, and you’re getting so close to the big finish, you feel like you can really see it. ✨

You’ve spent months creating these beautiful little pieces, trusting the process, and before you know it, they stop feeling like individual blocks and start becoming a quilt.

That’s why I love the Block of the Month format so much.

Instead of trying to tackle one enormous project all at once, you keep showing up with just a few hours every single month, a few blocks at a time.

Then, one day you step back, look at everything together, and realize you’ve created something you never thought possible.

I can’t wait to see everyone’s Dutch Summer begin to come together over the next few months! Even though we’re nearing the end, you can still get access to the entire program and make this quilt yourself.

This is what makes my programs accessible for even This is what makes my programs accessible for even brand-new quilters: ⬇️

👉 They’re built with Modern Triangles.
Think of them like quilty puzzle pieces. One small shape at a time. Each month you make a set of triangles, and by the end of the year… you’ll suddenly have a quilt that feels like a masterpiece.

👉 You only ever need to focus on the next step.
Not the whole quilt, not the finishing, not how it will look months from now.
Just one block (or triangle!) at a time.

👉 YOU don’t have to do the hard thinking because I’ve already done that for you.
No math, no stress, no guesswork, just clear instructions, support when you need it, and joyful sewing!

Your job is simply to create, enjoy, experiment, and celebrate the “Ta-Da!” moments along the way.

Whether you’ve made 50 quilts or zero, you belong here, and you’ll finish with something you’re really proud of.

I’m not even exaggerating when I say that I probab I’m not even exaggerating when I say that I probably would have saved hundreds of hours if I knew the magic of freezer paper piecing when I first started quilting. 😅

There was a time when I almost gave up quilting altogether because I HATED paper piecing so much, and it took me so long.

Having to sew through your foundations, spend countless hours ripping paper from the seams, having sore fingers, and not even wanting to do it anymore... That’s where I was with the whole paper piecing thing. Ready to just throw in the towel.

And then a friend introduced me to Freezer Paper Piecing, and it changed my life forever. I have never looked back, and now I LOVE paper piecing. 🙌

Instead of tearing paper out of every seam, I could just peel it off… and use it again... and again... and again!

It was like magic. And it still feels like magic every time I do it! 🪄

Comment “FREEZER” if you want to take my free class and experience the magic yourself. 💕

All these triangles come together to make one STUN All these triangles come together to make one STUNNING quilt! 🤩

The Echo was such a fun, unique design that was unlike anything I had made with triangles yet.

It felt bold and different, yet symmetrical. ✨

And of course, made with modern traingles blocks, some were simple, and some were challenging.

But the whole process from start to finish is so much fun! If you want to learn as you go and make your own version of the Echo, comment ‘ECHO’ and I’ll send you the details to my Block of the Month program, where you get ALL the tools, tutorials, and resources to make this quilt! 🫶

All you have to do is pick your color plan, shop your fabric stash, and get ready to start sewing! 🪡
