THIS WEEK’S FEATURED MEMBER: Charlotte C.

Make Modern Triangles member spotlight #30 is on Charlotte C. who brings her colorful, intricate quilts to the Bryan House Quilts blog. Her quilting ID is traditional and modern and she loves to learn. Charlotte started quilting to make baby quilts for her staff instead of knitting and crocheting them. She says that “now the possibilities seem endless!”

When she joined Make Modern Triangles, she wanted to make Solstice, but wound up making four of the other (BOM) quilts. She still plans to make another Solstice for herself. Go Charlotte!
QUILTING FAVES AND NOT-SO-FAVES
What is your favorite quilt make of all time?
Cinco de Mayo. It was for my mom’s birthday and took 3 years to finish piecing.

What do you like about quilting with triangles?
I love the ability to make different designs depending on how you place the triangles together. I especially like when I get an unexpected secondary look that adds a pop to the original design.
What are your favorite parts of quilting?
Choosing a color palette and fabrics.
What are your least favorite parts of quilting?
Free motion quilting and hand quilting.
LEARNING TO MAKE MODERN TRIANGLES
When you joined Make Modern Triangles, what did you want to learn and/or accomplish?
I wanted to have more fun playing with the patterns that the triangle shapes can create.

What’s next on your learn-to-do list?
Increase my knowledge to tackle free motion quilting with confidence.
What has quilting taught you about yourself?
Trust my color choices. To be okay with mistakes as only I can see them.

Charlotte’s STASH (!)AND SEWING SPACE
Describe your fabric stash.
Enough to fill a room and then some. What can I say? I love fabric and lots of it!
Describe your sewing space and what you like about it.
I have created a dedicated work space in my spare bedroom so I can move easily from cutting fabric, to ironing to piecing. This has made the whole process relaxing.
INSPIRATION
Where do you find inspiration for your quilting? The person who is getting the quilt inspires my color choices and design.

What is your next quilting project?
In addition to Echo BOM, I am doing Storm at Sea in fall colors.
When you aren’t quilting, what interests do you have?
Travel at least 3 trips a year. Crocheting, knitting, reading, spending time with family.
Thank you, Charlotte for sharing your quilting journey with us! Just wow!
