QUILTING Faves and NOT-so-FAVES
What is your favorite quilt make of all time?
My all-time favorite quilt make was for a best friend from university. She went through kidney dialysis and hospice. We shared the same February birthstone, so I made her quilt in mauve colours.

What are your favorite parts of quilting?
Piecing!
What are your least favorite parts of quilting?
Cutting and binding.
Spotlight on Learning IN MAKE MODERN TRIANGLES
When you joined Make Modern Triangles, what did you want to learn and/or accomplish?
More precise piecing to make triangles look good.

What has quilting taught you about yourself?
I am more creative than I ever would have believed. I took no textile art or design courses until I was getting ready to retire. My family has no background in any type of sewing.

What do you like about quilting with triangles?
The variety of patterns.
What’s next on your learn-to-do list?
Hand embroidery. New embroidery stitches to have handwork to easily take with me. Also hand embroidery to decorate small textile art pieces I enjoy making.

What is your next project?
Growth chart for a friend’s new grandson.

Marilyn’s Stash, SEwing Space and INSPIRATION
Describe your fabric stash.
Manageable: I usually buy fabric for a current project and often give away fabric leftovers.
Describe your sewing space and what you like about it.
A small bedroom in the basement level of our home – it’s a dedicated space for textile art.

Do you belong to a quilt guild?
Royal City Quilt Guild, Guelph, Ontario Canada.

Where do you find inspiration for your quilting?
Everywhere. Online, from Make Modern Triangles, books and many wonderful quilting friends.

When you aren’t quilting, what interests do you enjoy?
Reading, flower gardening and more reading! I’m an avid reader. I have been in same monthly book club for 45 years. I also enjoy cooking and spending summers at our small lake-side cabin.
Thank you, Marilyn, for sharing your quilting journey with us!
