Today, it’s my turn on Felice Regina‘s Luna Sol fabric line blog hop. Felice and I are great friends having met through the Houston Modern Quilt Guild a few years back. I cannot remember exactly when or how we met, but we bonded instantly over Illustrator, quilty-ambition, and movie quotes. She’s a great friend and an immensely talented designer with a wonderful sense of playful humor which translates well to fabric.

Felice’s first fabric line, the fiery Luna Sol fabric will be in stores, like my sponsor Fat Quarter Shop, around late September to early October and features vibrant colors and playful moon bunnies. There are 19 different fabrics ranging across 3 colorways – Luna, Sol, and Aurora. If you love coordinating solids, I invite you to consider the 5 coordinating Artisan Cottons. The Artisan Cottons are cross woven solids, i.e. solids with texture similar to shot cottons, which brings a cool effect to a quilt. There are also coordinating Luna Sol Aurifil thread sets, in both large and small sets.

My project is the Feathered Stars pattern (look for this pattern soon!). Click here to see the entire lookbook for Luna Sol.  For the Luna Sol fabric line, I wanted to show the range of bright colors so I thought this Feathered Star pattern would be perfect.

A few months ago, I blogged about taking Cristina Camelli’s class Wild Quilting on Craftsy. This was the first quilt I practiced my new found FMQ skills on after taking Cristina’s class. I chose 3 different motifs and repeated them in a free motion style across the quilt. It was great fun. By the way, I do recommend Cristina’s class if you are looking to expand your free motion quilting skills. And it wouldn’t hurt me to review it again. Practice, practice, practice!

For my quilt pictures, I smuggled a handful (let’s be honest here, a BAG-ful) of new quilts on our family vacation. These pictures are from an old old house in the deep dark woods of western Massachusetts. Don’t be fooled by these pictures, it was so hot and humid. Right until the day we left. Then it got nice a cool. Sigh. So. Hot. No. A. C.

Historical findings, like this rock wall, infuse this spot, which is just so neat to explore. From what I understand, these rock built walls were a part of an old barn on this property.

    I’m inspired by your comments about FMQ. I’ll check out the Craftsy class ’cause I could seriously use a boost in that skill area. My all time favorite constellation is Orion the Hunter who watches over us and feels like an old friend and a close runner up is Cassiopeia (which I cannot spell w/o spell checker). I am waiting *not so patiently* for the Luna Sol collection, but wouldn’t it be amazing to win it? Umm, yes…

    The moon holds a special place in our hearts. When our now 28 year-old daughter was 2, she was absolutely terrified whenever the moon came out. If she spotted it, we would have to cover her head and take her home quickly. We bought every happy book we could find about the moon, and she eventually grew out of it… but it’s so much fun to tease her about it now!

    Feathered Star is a beauty, especially set near those old rock foundations. Very cool setting! Of course, your quilting is gorgeous too! My favorite is the Big Dipper because it always reminds me of my mom. When I was little, she would point it out to me. So I feel her with me when I search for it.

    I like the moon, it is often visible, but ever-changing. Some of the prettiest of her faces are Harvest moon and Strawberry Moon.

    I remember sitting in front of the TV with my family watching the first lunar landing. I was 9 years old and it was I was fascinated to watch this amazing event on a little screen.

    I love the moon! Which I realized after we counted the number of pieces of wall art in our house with representations of the moon– the number came to 6!! At one point I had 3 in the same room… That was before we changed stuff around. ???
