Right before my family went on our summer vacation this year, something unexpected got into me: out-of-season doses of merry and jolly in late spring. And it wouldn’t stop, right into our summer vaca. The Christmas Spirit took me hostage.
DESIGN INSPIRATION GOES WAY BACK
Okay, maybe this wasn’t TOTALLY out of NOWHERE. I’ve wanted to design more Christmas quilts featuring modern Isosceles triangles in Christmas tree shapes. Merry Modern Trees was one of my first Christmas Isosceles triangle quilts made from them (below).

Back to the my vacation: I packed a new sketchbook and designed, designed, designed in between an amazing vacation. *bliss*. Now, I have insight into the why-quilting-on-a-cruise-ship-or-vacation is popular. It’s time without deadlines and chores, minus obligations. *bliss again* with space for doodling and dreaming.
My “souvenirs” are 12 ideas for Christmas quilts. And of course, as an over-caffeinated creative, I have BIG dreams for this collection of designs. If I’m honest, part of that vision is me in Christmas PJs and a Santa hat happily munching on Christmas cookies and making Christmas quilts for the foreseeable future… heh.
While not practical, I decided to make ONE new Christmas quilt and pattern.

Gah! So cute! So merry!
