It’s that time of year! Finished Modern Triangle Block of the Month (BOM) quilts are starting to pop up after a year of triangle progress!
And you know what that means… once you have a finished quilt top… the inevitable next question is… how do I quilt it?!
Well say no more, because this year I collaborated with quilt artists to create a rich showcase of quilting ideas for the Solstice BOM. Each artist created a different mock up of how they might quilt the Solstice quilt and I’m excited to share each artist with you here!
Today, I’d like to introduce you to Bobbie of Geeky Bobbin!
Bobbie put together an amazing quilting mockup for Solstice and some fun resources for us here. Below, you’ll meet Bobbie and see some of her colorful and fun quilts. You’ll also see links to some fun resources Bobbie shares over on her own sites and finally you’ll see where to find more Bobbie of Geeky Bobbin!

Meet Bobbie Gentili of Geeky Bobbin
It took a few decades, but Bobbie Gentili finally found the right outlet for her lifelong creativity and love of mathematics when she was introduced to modern quilting. She now spends every waking moment designing quilt patterns, longarm quilting, <strike>petting</strike> curating beautiful fabrics, and sharing her quilty adventures on Instagram at @geekybobbin and on her website geekybobbin.com.
Bob’s patterns feature bold, geometric designs, playing with curves and long strips to give a sense of movement. She finds inspiration in science, nature, and geeky culture.
Bob lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where her husband, 2 young children, and cats enjoy any scraps of her attention that can be stolen from quilting.
Bobbie’s Solstice Mock Up
Here’s what Bobbie came up with! And she even put together a YouTube video for us! Annnnd I think we can all relate to that face, yes? The camera freezes and say cheese ladies! 😉
So settle in and have a watch. Such a fun video! I hope you get some good ideas for quilting your Solstice quilt and your Modern Triangle quilts.
Before getting settled do have a look at some of Bobbie’s quilty eye candy below! Her quilts are so fun and colorful and she is quite talented! You’ll also see some amazing resources that Bobbie shares over on her sites and information about where you can follow Bobbie of Geeky Bobbin.

Fun Stuff & Gold Nuggets
On her sites, Bobbie has a couple fun resources for you!
Bobbie is running a fun UFO challenge for November! Over the course of November, you can join her in “examining our crafty orphans and deciding whether to Resume work on them as planned, Rework them with a Plan B, or Rehome them to another crafter, who can joyfully get them across the finish line.”
Bobbie’s put together an amazing tool for us quilters who um… might be a bit short when it comes to binding. (GUILTY!)
The Magical Rainbow of Binding™ is a printable quick reference PDF that gives you the binding length in inches, number of strips of binding, and required yardage at a glance for any quilt size! You can even choose between 2″, 2 1/4″, and 2 1/2″ wide binding strips.
Yeah, you’re going to want that!
