Happy (early) Friday!
I wanted to stop in today to show you my Bright quilt, which I touched briefly on in my last post about my episode of Fresh Quilting. This project was cut from Modern Triangle Quilts due to space limitations, but I’ve made it available as a free pattern to my newsletter subscribers.
The Bright Quilt uses the Right Triangle blocks (from pages 57-72 of Modern Triangle Quilts) to showcase a modern and graphic twist on the very classic 8 pointed star. The pattern is fairly straight forward, just triangle blocks sewn into squares. Then the squares are sewn together.
For the quilting I used simple lines to echo each triangle’s design and straight, parallel lines in the white background. Straight lines, are a really easy way to arrive at an elegant finish and give the quilt dimension and depth.
The quilt as shown is pretty small, at 48” square. It’s a great way to make a few of the triangle blocks without committing to making a ton of the blocks. To make this crib sized quilt larger, you could easily add larger borders to beef up its size, a la my Tribute Star. Or, I think it would be fun to make 4 stars to make a huge king size quilt.

Subscriber Bonus: As a thank you, my newsletter subscribers get access to Bright Pattern for Free. Click this link to join and I will send the PDF directly to your inbox. The pattern also has the 2 coloring pages. You can find the pattern on the “Free Patterns” page under the BHQ Resource Library.
If you are in need of the book, I have some copies available in my shop but you also might want to check in with your local quilt shop.
Enjoy your weekend!

Your triangle quilts, including this one, are beautiful and give us a new twist on a tried and true shape. I’ve enjoyed seeing snaps of your quilts on IG. Thank you!
