16 Dec

Updated: Hi all! The giveaway is now closed. Vicki H has won the fat quarter bundle. Yah!

I must say I enjoyed hearing about your recurring dreams. Many of them echo mine! Isn’t the mind a funny, mysterious place? Thank you for sharing!

Happy Friday!

Today is my turn on the Curious Dream Blog Hop!

Curious Dream, by Angela Pingel, is full of soft colors. While I typically gravitate towards BRIGHT(!) colors, I’ve learned that soft, less saturated colors, can really accentuate my favorite brights. So having fabric like Curious Dream on hand can really allow us to bring depth of color to our quilt palettes.

Of course the fabrics works beautifully together in a fabric line too! Check out Angela’s booth at Houston this past October.

The booth is full of adorable projects! Did you see the hot air balloon pillow? Or the pillow with the book pocket? My personal favorite has to be the Book Nerd Quilt. Wouldn’t it be fun to play with fussy cutting the book bindings?

But of course that moss covered chair is quite the feat! (And look at that little darling asleep in the chair!) I love how Angela created the chair to tie in the real world with the imaginative, dream world of Alice in Wonderland. Perfection!

You can buy Curious Dream at Fat Quarter Shop. Flip through the look book and Please check out the rest of the stops on the blog tour!

As a teacher and book lover, the Book Nerd Quilt is so awesome! Curious Dream would be a dream to create with. As a 16 year old, my first job was in a nursing home, caring for the elderly residents. I worked there for 7 years. Now in my 50’s, I still dream about working there a few times a month. I feel like I should be getting a paycheck!

My most recurrent dream is being in school…sometimes it’s elementary school..sometimes high school and sometimes college….and even though I did very well in school, graduating as Valedictorian in High School and will honors in college, I am ALWAYS unprepared, or worse—halfway dressed—in these dreams. No analyses, please…..lol.

I can’t believe I’m even saying this. 🫣 I have ha I can’t believe I’m even saying this. 🫣

I have had messages from people claiming that my designs and quilts are AI-generated.

In a world full of AI these days, I get that we have to be skeptical and diligent. But we can also credit and appreciate artists and creators who do amazing work.

It’s not fair to artists and creators to simply assume that something is AI-generated. I spend countless hours on each of my designs, and it takes months of days spent in the sewing room in my little creative cave to make one of the beautiful, handmade quilts! And beyond all of that, I truly enjoy the process and the journey of it all.

That’s just not something that AI could do.

So I’m here to assure you that none of my patterns or programs are AI-generated, and never will be.

I’ve been teaching quilting for over a decade, and I’ve been teaching quilting for over a decade, and I’ll still remember the first time that I learned this. 👇

It completely changed my quilty life, and I’ve never looked back!

At one point early on in my quilting days, I almost gave it up altogether because I was so frustrated with ripping tiny bits of paper out of my seams.

My fingers hurt, it took forever, and I was over it! I still have unfinished blocks that have paper on them from those days... 😅

And then someone taught me what I have now taught thousands of other quilters, and I fell back in love with it all over again.

You can try for yourself by taking my free class and see how you like it!

Quilting is not just about making something beautiful.

It’s about making time for yourself.

And that act of making time for yourself is something that you have to do. It’s essential. And above all, you deserve it! 👏

No one is going to make the time for you. You have to prioritize time for yourself to play and explore your creativity.
