Awhile back I mentioned some 12-patch blocks sewn up from a Design Roll of Chicopee by Denyse Schmidt.

My plan was a take off of the Coffin Star block that I originally saw Mary at Molly Flanders showcase on her blog. I didn’t realize it but Mary had used Chicopee in her blocks as well. When I went back just now to link up to Mary’s blog post, I saw that she used Chicopee, too. So, I feel a little sheepish in thinking this combination was all my idea.
But she was right: Chicopee looks great in this simple block set on point.

Anyways, Mr. Jones wishes he was someone just a little more funky, so alas my quilt top is a bit more um…
funky.
To me Chicopee reminds me of the crazier, imperfect, but well loved 1970s era quilts. Something I would have shied (run) away from. But as I worked more with this line, I just fell in love with the bright and bold colors. So, in my design process I tried to bring out the feel of quilts from that era.
It brings a much needed dose of color to my family room!
I can’t wait to get this sassy beauty quilted. I’m hoping to get this quilted up in March and I will tell you a little bit more about Mr. Jones.

Um do you mind if I just sit here and stare at your quilt?? it's so pretty… I am in love with chicopee and I keep collecting *ahem hoarding* as much of it as I can get my hands on and have yet to drum up the courage to cut into any of it.

Love this quilt! I'm a sucker for blocks on point, throw in some Chicopee and it's over. Such a fun quilt! And seriously, don't we all wish we were just a little more funky?
