A tiny finish to share with you today. Funny how such a tiny object could take so long and so much effort to finish, no? The devil is in the details, as they say, and this project was all about the details.
I had hopes of finishing Noelle’s smocked dress and bonnet for her to wear home from the hospital. Well, as it happened, Noelle made her appearance the day after I finished the smocking. I still had yet to hem the dress and attach the ribbons to her bonnet. Not finished! I was a teensy bit disappointed and feared that I may not finish them before she grew too big.
It turned out to be fortunate because at the hospital they gave baby girl an EXTRA dose of purple dye over her belly button and there was NO way I was letting purple dye anywhere near this white smocked dress!
So.
Happily, I was able to finish and even had the courage to dress the poor wee thing in her wee little dress and hat.
Don’t be fooled by this cute face, she did not care for her bonnet. She kept trying to eat it, bless her heart. 🙂 MAKE BABY ANGRY!
With Nonnie’s help, I was able to capture some nice pictures of her in it. Which is what it’s all about! Here’s a the best picture of the smocking. (To those who aren’t familiar with smocking… I did not make the bonnet or dress nor did I pleat anything. I just smocked it, which means I did all the decorative stitching. I also finished it with a blind hem – my first ever and I love the effect.)

And now I feel like a true Southern woman (lady, gal, girl… who am I?!)
