The Sizzix Quilting team is working on putting together a Round Robin type quilt full of cowboy boots for Fall Quilt market. We were each tasked with putting together a cowboy boot using the cowboy boot die.
Well here’s mine and I dare say it’s not a cowboy boot, but a cowGIRL boot.
Despite all my years in Texas, I never found a pair of cowboy boots I liked. What I’d want are boots in a pretty shade of brown with a bit of turquoise trimming. And of course my man can always bring me flowers – wild or roses.
I used the die to cut the boot and the turquoise trimming.
Then I fussy cut a floral print. This particular floral is from Flower Sugar by Lecien, one of my all time favorite florals.
The idea to appliqué a floral print came from Denyse Schmidt’s book (Modern Quilts Traditional Inspiration) and the technique is called “Broderie Perse”.
I really enjoyed doing this little project and I can’t wait to see how the other team members do their quilt blocks. I myself could do a whole quilt of florally cowgirl boots. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!

I'm not sure what I would have done, tasked with a cowboy boot, but I love what you came up with! Broderie Perse is on my list to try. Hmm, I wonder what that others will come up with!
