It’s that time of year! Finished Modern Triangle Block of the Month (BOM) quilts are starting to pop up after a year of triangle progress!
I’ve got one last wonderful quilter, Raylee of Sunflower Stitches, to share with you today.
But first, let’s give some Solstice members a shout out!
And you know what that means… once you have a finished quilt top… the inevitable next question is… how do I quilt it?!
This year, I collaborated with quilt artists to create a rich showcase of quilting ideas for the Solstice BOM. Each artist created a different mock up of how they might quilt the Solstice quilt and I’m excited to share each artist with you here!
Today, I’d like to introduce you to Raylee Bielenberg!
Raylee put together an amazing quilting mockup for Solstice and some fun resources for us here. Below, you’ll meet Raylee and see some of her colorful and fun quilts. You’ll also see links to some fun resources Raylee shares over on her own sites and finally you’ll see where to find more Raylee!
Ready? Let’s go!

MEET RAYLEE BIELENBERG!
Raylee Bielenberg of Sunflower Stitches is a wife, mum, and quilter (designer and longarm). Raylee enjoys being able to help clients progress their quilts closer to completion and build the story of the quilt by adding the quilting in a way that enhances the quilt and honours both the maker and the recipient. She has been a longarm quilter for 11 yrs and always enjoys the delight when clients collect their quilts.
HOW TO QUILT THE SOLSTICE BOM
Here’s how Raylee sketched out her Solstice plan – it’s perfect for quilters who love simple lines.
Sometimes simple lines are just what a quilt needs. No need to overthink things!

Alright! Let’s have a look at some of Raylee’s beautiful quilts and quilting!
TIPS for working with a longarm artist
Raylee says, ”If you use a long arm quilting service, I would encourage you to develop a relationship with your quilter. Talk about your ideas for your quilt, collaborate with them with regard to the quilting style and designs. You can be as involved in this process as you would like, so even though the quilting is done by someone with that skill set you have still be involved in the design process.”
