I can’t believe I’ve sat on this for so long! Guys! How cool is this? I’m so proud to be a part of the Kona Designer 2018 BOM.
And here’s my little block, “Rebecca’s Triangles”. I should mention here that I didn’t piece the block. Whoever did, did a stellar job at lining up those seams! Well done!
Anyways, I wanted a geometric block that showed off the fun new colors. And this is what I came up with. And yes, I guess I’m not finished with triangles yet!
The blocks are only available in participating shops. So be sure to ask in your shop! For more info you can visit Robert Kaufman’s website.
Annnndddd…. if you were to tile the blocks together in a 5 x 6 array you have a bold, graphic, colorful quilt throw size quilt (60” x 72”). You could keep it bold by using all solids like I show in my mock up. BUT! Wouldn’t it be fun to play with some color texture?ย If you kept the value placement similar (light blue, medium blue, dark blue…), you could really play with movement and color depth by using different prints.
Check out this luscious stack of new Kona! Yum Yum! The new blues are really good. There’s a blue-purple I’m excited about. When I wrote my Modern Rainbow book, it was kinda hard to find a blue-purple, so yah! I love the bright new neon-like colors. They are bright but not overwhelming. And of course there are plenty of supporting tones in the stack that allow the brights to sparkle. Such a nice new collection here.
Are ย you excited about any certain color you’ve seen?
Don’t forget to ask about the Kona Designer 2018 BOM in your LQS shop!

Congratulations! The new colors are fabulous! They look as though they will play well together, too. Just when I was getting a good stash of Kona, along come all the new colors. Ha ha. I will need to rectify my stash, won’t I? It is the only solution. Not the saddest situation I’ve ever been in! It will be great to see what comes next for you.

Thank you!
I know right? But you can’t have too many solids, right? I have to update my Kona card though.
