A few years ago, I made patchwork stuffed Dachshunds for my 2 biggest girls for Christmas. It was such a delight making each one and carefully wrapping each in a gift bag, taking care to leave their snouts out so they could breathe. 🙂
Oh, that was fun.
So when my oldest daughter asked for a purple version for her 10th birthday, I was delighted to comply.
Together we picked out purple scraps. She did most of the picking, while I tried to make suggestions. She either welcomed my suggestions or firmly shut me down. (“No, mom. I said NO!) You know how that is. 🙂
To help with cutting, I let my daughter use my Sizzix Fabi machine. We used the 2 1/2” square die.
She did all the cutting! Yah!
I used this Doxie Softie pattern from Retro Mama. I followed the pattern as directed, but for the fabric I used quilted patchwork fabric. First I cut out the dachshund’s body from batting. Then I laid out my squares. Then I pieced the squares together and then quilted it to each piece of batting.

3 pretty ladies all in a row. From left: “Redder than Strawberries”, “Samoa”, and “Violet”.
Patchwork Dachshund parade!
I don’t think this will be the end of my patchwork dachshund making. 😉

Oh! How! Cute! Did you use the pattern exactly? It looks so different in patchwork! My daughter and her MIL have doxies; they will love these!

Thanks!
Yes, I used the pattern exactly. I just used my quilted patchwork as the fabric for the body. First, I used the pattern to cut the dog’s body from Warm and White batting. Then I quilted my patchwork onto the dog shaped batting.

Is the pattern for sale,
I’m not a business or shop.
Just someone who enjoys seeing. My mom has doxies, her Chloe crossed the rainbow bridge. Please let me know. Thanks

So you cut out the shape and then quilted it? I thought about quilting a large rectangle of batting with the patchwork snd then cutting it into the shape.
rebeccabryan says
That works too!
