You may recognize Shannon’s work from her blog, The Bottle Tree, or from her book Scrappy Bits Applique. Just like Shannon’s other textile ventures Shannon’s fabric is fresh, earthy, and nature inspired – with bright oranges that trend toward coral, easy greens, aqua and a killer blue. Look at that deep blue! Inspired by trees and mythological spirits called Dryads, the textures of the forest are captured within in the fabric. There’s also a texty print!
Gah, and now I’m a little bit anxious for spring! Gosh I do miss the Texas winters sometimes. Kolaches and blue skies and oak trees draped in Spanish Moss.
With my bundle, I decided to start a quilt. (No way!?) (Yes way!)
What I’m doing is fairly simple. I cut up white charm squares (5” x 5” squares) – I started with 50 squares. Then from the Dryad strips, I cut 2 strips 2 1/2” x 5” and 2 strips 2 1/2” x 9 1/2”.
Then I sewed the 2 1/2” x 5” strips to the bottom and top. Press the seams which ever way you like. I pressed my seams toward the strips. Next, I added the 2 1/2” x 9 1/2” to finish the block. Give the block a final block.
In no time, I found myself with a pretty stack of blocks. This is one of my favorite prints.
And, I’m thinkin’ I’ll be putting the blocks together like this on point. Now, should I add in white squares at the border? Or just cut off half the blocks to square up the quilt top. Hmm….

My giveaway is open through Friday or 02/12, which incidentally is Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. The winner will be randomly chosen after the blog hop ends. I’ll post the winner once I’ve connected with them. (Please make sure I have your email address when you comment!)
Also, Angela Walters has a coupon code for 10% off of Dryad fabrics from her shop, Quilting is My Therapy, during the hop – use promo code DRYAD.
