Colorful Trilobite Quilt Top {Finish}

Hi guys, it’s been quiet around here. I’m sorry about that. It will continue to be quiet around here. I’m working on a second book and well, the deadlines are coming up fast. 😉

Anyways, I do have a finish to show you today – colorful version of my Trilobite quilt pattern! Well okay, it’s merely a quilt top. The quilting will have to wait!

April Rhodes sent me 10 half yards of her Bound fabric, and I had the best time playing with it. I love April’s fabric, Arizona, Wanderer and this latest fabric collection , Bound. It’s amazing. The way April combines earth tones with geometric shapes with ease and beauty.

I eagerly set out to make a more colorful version of my Trilobite quilt pattern. I chose some coordinating solids to supplement the Bound fabrics.

The original Trilobite version is made with just 2 color solids but I think it’s a pattern that lends itself well to patterned fabric.

And I set out with the plan to keep each Trilobite, the same color throughout the quilt.

But then I happened upon this combination and it really excited me.

Look how pretty the HSTs are bundled together! Love these colors.

I toyed with a few different REALLY colorful arrangements.

But I lost confidence and ultimately decided to tone the color down a bit by placing the whites in the middle. In retrospect I kinda like this wild and bright version.
