Giveaway is now closed – Jacklynn won! Thank you all for playing. I so enjoyed reading about your leisure activities while I finished my novel from the couch. It was a good week. 😉

I can remember clearly the moment I discovered my love of medallion quilts. I’ve never been a fan of sampler quilts, so to my surprise I fell hard for medallions. Of course, my discovery probably coincided slash was caused by the #marcellemedallion (by Alexia Marcelle Abegg) craze.
My realization came during my first venture into medallion making with my Lucky medallion, which I made using selvages from my favorite fabrics. I cannot tell you how much fun making medallions are! Lucky has long long been on my list to make into a quilt pattern – there are a few things I would do differently.
When Janice and Beth invited my to submit a sketch for their medallion book, I was thrilled. Here’s my sketch I submitted. Actually, the sketch I submitted was a bit different; Janice and Beth asked that I alter it a bit, which was the right call. Anyways, I even had fun making the sketch so I’ve been waiting to show it to you. 🙂
I really love blocks on point and probably my favorite thing to do with medallion quilts is to turn the center on point. I probably will always to do this, I love on point so!
The theme of this medallion was flowers: a center flower made from the pickle dish motif, orange peel flowers, and more flowers at the corners using a half of a pickle dish. Also there are flying geese made from HSTs, checkerboards, and herringbones. These are a few of my favorite things….
I knew this quilt needed special quilting to take the quilt to the next level. Danielle Wilkes of Nacho Mama Quilts delivered…
soft …
billowy …
luxurious …
quilting.
(Danielle brought it didn’t she?)
I’m honored to be a part of this wonderful book alongside so many talented quilt makers. I’d love it if you were to visit the other stops on the blog tour to read about the other contributors and see the quilts!
Wow this book looks great and I absolutely LOVE your contribution!
I like to reward myself with anything related to sewing especially quilting. At the moment, I'm considering upgrading my sewing machine. Ball is in dealer's court at the moment. :>)
This makes me think a medallion quilt must be in my future. Love the cover quilt and yours.
Great use of some familiar-looking shapes! 🙂
Your medallion is gorgeous! I love everything about it; from the color scheme to the pickle dish flowers to the quilting.
Of course I love sewing and quilting, but I always unwind at the end of the day by reading.
Thanks for the chance to win!

I really like this quilt. The colors make it so appealing…eye candy. Thank you for sharing it. I'm an obsessive reader (didn't have TV in our house until I was 11, but the library was a weekly event). Also CHOCOLATE makes the world a better place.

I really love the flowers in the corners of your quilt, it's beautiful! Thanks for the chance to win this wonderful book. jacklynnsteven at netzero dot com
I enjoy reading too–the current book club selection is THE LOWLAND by Jhumpa Lahiri. I also managed to squeeze a few others in between the monthly book club selections. The Rosie Effect was a fun read–we read the Rosie Project for book club earlier.
I also enjoy my dog to the utmost–a sweet little Sheltie. Her name happens to be Rosie as well! She's 15 months old now, so is still a "project"!
I love your selvage medallion!
I like to read or color. they both help me relax.
I'd love to win a copy of this book. To relax I read, knit, or cut up fabric scraps into squares!
I love medallion quilts – this book is on my want list. To relax, I embroidery, sew, listen to music, read or watch TV. A reward is buying new fabric or a new book. Work is cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping – ick!
This looks a great book!

I like to unwind with a good walk. Or to sit outside with m y eyes closed and listen to all I can hear: doves, chickens, dogs, wind, bumble bees, etc. It very much brings you into the moment. Thanks from Sweden.

Such a beautiful design! I would love a copy of this book! My favorite way to reward myself is a hot both. Thanks!
What do I do to unwind? I go and pet my fabric stash! I refold and rearrange with something interesting to listen to on BBC Radio4 or Radio4Extra.
You can't beat reading for relaxing and unwinding, so add in a quilting book and it becomes a perfect passtime!

Your list is my list! If it's a beautiful day outside, I want to go out and tackle the flowerbeds. If it's rainy, I want to watch Masterpiece (Mr. Selfridge, Downton Abbey, etc., etc., etc.) and get out some quilting. Thanks for sharing what you like about medallions and how yours came about. Love an insight into the creative process!
Such a beautiful book! If I'm more motivated, I like to unwind with yoga. Otherwise, it's all about lying on the couch for a couple hours and catching up on my Hulu queue.

Lovely design! My son is getting married in a few months and I've been thinking about making them a quilt. This would be perfect!
Sewing is great for relaxation unless there are uncooperative points to match! I like it nonetheless. And I find hand stitching binding down very soothing.
Your quilt is lovely. I think Medallion quilts are works of art and love, destined to be heirlooms. Despite the lofty description, working on them is one way for me to relax. I also like to read, or just sit in the sunshine.
Reading on my Kindle late at night 🙂
Reading (mysteries, quilt blogs, quilt books/mags), walking, travel planning, and of course, quilting! What a pretty quilt you contributed!
I love reading, baking (not a good thing) and gardening.
I like to reward myself with some fabric or a house magazine or a fiction novel or a trip to the cinema or a girls night out with my friends. That last two don't happen very often. This sounds like a great book. Being a novice quilter I have lots of different types of quilts to try yet. Thanks C&T for the giveaway. 🙂
Hmmm, if I don't spend time sewing each day I am one crabby character, but I like to unwind by watching Bollywood flicks on Netflix. Really. Well, I also read, crochet, watch the sunset, do yoga….
That really is beautiful quilting. This book looks like it could be so helpful!
I unwind by gardening or reading or petting fabric. It depends on the weather and how tired I am. Looks like a really yummy book!
