For more than a few years, I’ve been meaning to make a pouch to keep my colored pencils. My collection has outgrown their pencil box. Before the new year, I finally made some pouches.
I was so pleased to be able to get 4 boxy pouches out of a 1/2 yard cut of this Playful canvas print, by Melody Miller. Each pouch has such a different personality due to the versatility of the print. So, they were pretty fun to make.
I used a hybrid of this tutorial and this tutorial. And my zippers were 9 inch zippers from Zipit. (Must restock!) I used the Matryoshka (I spelled that right on the try!) doll tape for zippy pulls on only two. I wished I had done it for all of them. Sigh.
The bingo bag might be my favorite. 🙂
I really recommend zippy tabs. The ones without tabs are kind of annoying to open and close. No big deal, but I wish I would have taken that extra small step.
I was even able to get the handles from the same Playful print. I love fabric economy!
And now I have a home for my colored pencils. Though I doubt I’d be able to get brand new pencils in the pouch. It’s a bit tight.
I’m linking up to Finish It Up Friday. Have a fantastic weekend!

I see you used a metal zip. I typically use nylon zips. I like the look of yours and will need to give it a try sometime. Love all of your pouches. They are ALL my favorite. Can't choose just one!

Hi there Rebecca,
Could you please let us know where you got the cute Matryoshka tape? Not to copy you, I would probably choose another design..
Thanks so much,

I've had my eye on this fabric since it was released… all the more reason to throw it in my shopping cart… really cute!

That's a great fabric for these bags. You did an awesome job on them. All those nips and tucks and rounded parts–mine would be all bunchy in the wrong places!
