This quilt has been finished for quite awhile, almost 9 months! I made it for Patty Sloniger‘s spring market booth. My quilt, Wanderlust, is the gray one with triangles in the back. Wasn’t Patty’s booth fantastic?
The colors in the line, Emma’s Garden, are so so luscious and vibrant. They are right up my alley so I had a bunch of fun working with the fabric.
And of course it was fun to come up with a quilt design. How could I not make a rainbow quilt with those colors?
Right after the quilt came back from market, I shipped it off to Love Patchwork & Quilting magazine so that it could be published in Issue 12.
After which, the quilt’s whereabouts are unknown. (SOB!!) That’s the main reason I have not shared Wanderlust here yet. I know these things happen and that’s what shipping insurance is for. But I would have liked to see her again. (Double sob!)
So the lesson for me and for you is… Don’t name your quilts “Wanderlust” or they might just live up to the name (thank you to Jenny Fox- Proverbs for that clever play on words! Hi Jenny!)
I’m linking up to Finish it Up Friday!

Oh no – I hope the magazine compensates you for your loss π

Oh yes, they did. π They were very sweet and considerate.

So sad that this quilt is lost, it is beautiful!

Awww that is SO sad! What a gorgeous quilt. The booth definitely was fantastic and your quilt played a big part in that. Also super cool that it then immediately hopped off to a magazine to be published! LOL I will make a mental note not to name any of my quilts Wanderlust, lest they decide to join your beauty heading off into the sunset.

Very sad indeed. I've heard of several quilts not making it back from publishers, and the claim is "lost in the mail", but who knows? Maybe somebody in the chain loved it enough to keep it.

Oh Rebecca – you have been so kind and gracious about your missing quilt. I'm mortified but still live in hope that it will turn up – there are a LOT of yet-to-be unpacked boxes from our office relocation! Myra – I wish we had space to keep even one of the quilts, but we operate a strict one-in one-out policy at LPQ HQ for fear of suffocating beneath an avalanche of fabric. Now if someone could design a quilt called World Peace, Long Hot Summer or Lottery Winner, I may just have a space in the mag for it … Love Jenny xxx

No worries from me. These things happen. But here's hoping!

I hope it turns up! Funny about the name.
It's a wonderful design!

Oh no – that's terrible! Perhaps it will still turn up. When I was lamenting the loss of a small package a friend shared a story. A package that her friend sent to a relative showed up 13 months after being sent. Fingers crossed for your Wanderlust!

We all have that fear in the back of our minds when we send our quilts out to the longarmer. Now I will worry more π I hope you get her back!
Elsa says
Oh it's such a lovely quilt ~ I hope that someday it turns up! I'd be sobbing too!
I have to say that I've heard of this before and with this particular magazine (I do love it tho). I had some problems with the subscription ~ every time I subscribed (two times) my credit card was compromised. A coincident? I think not. I did notify them about the problem too.

Your quilt is beautiful and I am so sorry about your loss. I've been going to grief share since the death of my husband 17 months ago. One evening one lady said everything can be replaced except people. I gently told her that isn't true. I told her that we had been robbed some years ago and we knew who had done it. The DA led the woman walk on the charges not once but twice. She stole most of the material things I had inherited from my parents. There was a Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt that my mother had hand pieced and hand quilted. That can never be replaced since my mother was deceased at the time of the robbery. Also, my first husband's grandmother's hand made quilt was also stolen. She was deceased before I ever married him. So, of course, that cannot be replaced either. There were other hand made items. Also, even items that can be "replaced" do not have the same history. I pray that someday the quilt finds its way back to you. Miracles still happen every day. Thank you for sharing your story with us. Many, many people were blessed to see it at market.

What a bummer that it is lost π

That absolutely sucks that your quilt went missing, but maybe it is just wandering and will return. Fingers crossed for you!

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of that wonderful quilt. I have that issue of Love Patchwork and Quilting, and your quilt was one of the reasons I bought it. I hope it finds its way home.
Patti says
That's so sad. I hope your quilt decides to quit wandering and come home. It is really a lovely quilt.
