I’m thrilled to be participating in Fat Quarter Shop‘s latest Shortcut Quilt project. The pattern is called Mini Charm Mix and true to its name, the pattern is a super fast way to make a quilt using mini-charms packs. (Who doesn’t love mini-charms?!) Plus the pattern is super cute!
The hardest part, for me at least, was choosing which mini-charm pack I wanted to use! I toyed with many charm packs, at one point there were 11 different mini-charm packs in my cart (gulp!), but in the end I went with Hadley. Hadley is my new favorite Denyse Schmidt fabric line. And as you can see I bought a whole charm pack and sub-cut the squares into 2 1/2” squares.
The pattern was a great way to sit with a cup of coffee and a movie and just mindlessly stitch. For me it was a little peaceful getaway as my hubby took my kids to the park! (Please ignore that large crumb in that picture, ahem!)
I was really torn between making another quilt or making a table runner. In the end, the table runner won out. (I didn’t have a table runner…) Plus it was a great way to try some cross hatch quilting (inspired by Latifah Saafir) which can be quite time consuming on larger pieces.
Truly, I loved making this little project. And now, I have a table runner! Here’s a picture of it in our new dining room. There’s still a ways to go as far as decorating my new house, but it’s nice to have this little vignette.
In the future perhaps I’ll revisit this pattern for a quick crib quilt. It’s just so easy and so cute!
