Finally, after several months of work, it’s time to show you my new pattern Hexy Plus. Yah!!! I’m so happy to share it with you because it’s my new favorite.
Currently it’s available as an instantly downloadable PDF pattern in my new shop. As a special promotion I’m offering the pattern at 25% off when by entering “HEXYPLUS25”. The discount code is good through the next week. So if you are interested, now’s the time!
This week, I’ll be sharing a few projects from my pattern testers and a few related tutorials. So prepare for a bit of “overgramming” as they call it on the Instagram. ๐
Hexy Plus is made from Hexy Plus blocks, which as you can see are a plus sign set in a hexagon background. The Hexy Plus blocks are cut using a trimming template, which is included in the pattern. A template for the background triangles is also included.
Do you have a favorite stack of Fat Quarters? I do!ย Instead of hoarding my favorite bundle of Anna Maria Horner’s Field Study, I wanted to make a quilt (naturally!).
I know I’m not alone in the Fat Quarter bundle love, so cutting instructions are written to maximize Fat Quarters. But, for those of you who like to purchase yardage, my pattern also provides cutting instructions from 1/4 yard or 1/2 yard cuts of yardage too.
The pattern as written guides you through making a Hexy Plus quilt as shown below. BUT! One of my goals in my patterns, is to give you some ideas so you can add your own special touch. As such, the “stars” in the background of the cover quilt is offered as a “Design Idea” in the pattern.
For the back of the cover quilt, I used my (again hoarded) AMH Field Study velveteen, making it extra cuddly. (It’s seriously my new blankey. I even took it on an airplane. It gets cold up there, ya’ll!)
The velveteen wasn’t as hard to quilt with as I expected. It was a bit heavier so my quilting ended up being a tad denser than I normally prefer.
So that’s that. If you are as excited about this pattern as much as I am, ย please pick up a copy in my shop. Thank you in advance for your support! I can’t wait to see what you make!
