Way back in October, specifically for Fall Quilt Market, I made a Nikki Tote using a favorite Melody Miller print. Amidst all the craziness of last Fall and Winter, I neglected to share this finish here with you. Which is a shame because it is my favorite tote bag.
If I’m going to church or shopping or out to dinner, I carry my purse. But if I’m going to the pool or the park or a softball game, I grab my Nikki Tote. It’s perfect for carrying my stuff and some kid stuff. It can stand a bit of a beating too.
You might notice that my Nikki Tote is a bit smaller than the normal pattern. I only had a half yard of the typewriter print (1/2 yard of 60” wide), so I modified the pattern to make it work. (It had to work!) In short, I trimmed about 5 inches from the tote body and the lining. I also dropped a pleat, which was tough to do (I love each and every pleat!).
Buttons would have been too cute on this bag, but I only could find mediocre buttons for $5 each. I wasn’t about to spend 20 bones on buttons I didn’t love.
Overall, the pattern was well written and easy to follow. So if you are looking for a (or another, gulp!) tote, I definitely recommend the Nikki Tote.
So that’s that. I’m sharing this with Finish Up Friday. I hope you all have a great weekend!
