This one’s entered into the “Scrap Quilt” category. I don’t know how much more scrappy one can get than to make a quilt with selvedges.
Selvedges are those pretty, ends of a cut of fabric that run parallel to the fold. It’s a fun creative challenge to try to incorporate the selvages into a quilt. It’s safe to say much fun was had in the piecing of this quilt and in the quilting.
These selvedges are arranged in a medallion quilt, which is now one of my favorite types a quilt. They have such a rich history!
I can’t decide which is my favorite part, the flying geese of the herringbone looking strip? Or is it the hour glass blocks?
Once, it was pieced I quilted using Free Motion Quilting and gave each layer of the Medallion a different treatment.
To cap off the selvedge fun, I used selvage binding (tutorial here!). My favorite type of binding by far. So fun!
And that’s that!

I entered my Marcelle Medallion in the same category, but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna vote for yours. Haha!

This is one of the best selvedge quilts I've seen. Wondering how wide you usually trim yours when you are saving them. I've been cutting mine about an inch wide. Yours look wider.
