Have you seen Ayumi Mill’s blog? Did you know she has a book out? Both are adorable!
I’ve been following Ayumi for a few years and I love her pairings of retro fabrics and her practical yet adorable projects. So when I found out she had a book coming out, I preordered it without a second thought. I’m happy to say, I haven’t had any buyer’s remorse. Her book is great!
This project is called Happy Hexagon Trivet. I have really plain trivets, so I thought I’d make a pretty one. But now I don’t want to use this pretty trivet! Maybe I’ll just use it for dainty dishes?
30’s reproduction fabrics are some of my favorite fabrics, and were my first fabric love. *dreamy sigh* Polka dots are also a fabric love of mine. (Can you tell?)
After machine binding my quilts for a few years, I feel like I’ve finally perfected my machine binding. So I’m quite proud of each perfect corner on this trivet. 🙂 But it only took me a few years…
Rainbows: also a favorite of mine. I can’t help it. Blame Rainbow Brite. (I wish I still had that doll. She was awesome. Her sleeves were the best.)
On the back I splurged and used some of my extra favorite fabric, Snippets by American Jane.
And here’s my trivet in the wild enjoying a cup of coffee and a “nutritious” breakfast.
I’m linking up to Amanda Jean’s Finish it Up Friday.
Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your weekend! It’s my hubby’s birthday today, so he’s taking the day off. Yah!
What a sweet little trivet and adore that little puppy dog print in there:)
Beautiful.
Really cute! I would be honored to be a cup of coffee.
Love how you have made the 1930's fabrics look so bold and modern. Will be borrowing your use of dots and feedsack fabrics. Thanks.
it's really cute, becca!
It is so pretty! The corners look so good and I love your fabric choices. Polka dots make everything so fun!
This is absolutely darling, Becca! I love your fabric choices too!
This is my favorite of these trivets that I've seen so far! Really sweet and pretty.
Doh! Years to perfect! Sigh…. But I really Do want to learn to machine bind. So far my machine binding shames my nice piecing (because it is so wobbly.) I love you trivet and your fabric choices!
Your trivet turned out super cute!!
