I set out wanting to make at least one more Farmer’s Wife block to get to a total of 40 blocks. However, it’s been well over a year since I last made a block. And even though I thought I wanted to make only one more. I just can’t finish it with what I have.
Here’s my most recently completed block ~ Block 30: “End of Day”.

I like it, a lot. And luckily I want to make more!
The below picture is what I am going for, as opposed to the layout in the book. I think. I am planning on adding plenty of black and white prints betwixt the blocks.
I’m not sure why I thought I needed one more block because now I have two extra blocks in that formation. Oh, yes now I remember. And I only have 27, I thought I had 40. I don’t count so good.
The picture below shows all of my blocks.

In bringing out these blocks I find I mostly like them. But I’m dissatisfied with finishing the quilt using only these blocks. It needs more depth of color! For example, the purples I’ve used are all very similar. It at least needs a greater variety of purples!
I’m also certain I despise that green block right in the center.
So, naturally the only solution is to make more blocks.
I think I can live with that.
This block is my favorite! It’s a nine patch with wings! |
I hope you all are having a good weekend!
