Where to start?
Well, one thing I knew was that I needed to finish some projects before I started any other projects. But I had been seeing these great Farmer’s Wife blocks around the Blogs and finally decided to join in the Farmer’s Wife Quilt Along. Really, it was my mother’s fault. She and I are both joining in the fun. I just have to mail her book!
Naturally I decided to start on a whim and at night. But I was super excited to start, so I made the blocks I thought I could do without templates. The next day, I bought the required book and I love it. The book includes letters from women stating why they would want their daughters to marry a farmer. I am so impressed with the passion of the letter writers. Groups of women (and men) can really do amazing things, so I am excited to join.
A couple of “rules” for myself (rules are made for breaking!):
- Each block will be a different color. In general I want to use one print and the rest solids.
- I don’t want another bed sized quilt to work on. So I am cutting the block size down from 6 inches to 4 inches.
So without further delay, here are the pictures.
Block 1: “Attic Windows”:
Block 1: Attic Windows Green print is from “Modern Workshop”, green solids are Kona Cottons, the white is a Bella solid. Block 2: “Autumn Tints”:

Block 2: Autumn Tints Print is from “Just Wing It”. Solids are Bella Solids. |
Block 4 (I skipped Block 3 for now. Maybe tonight?): “Basket Weave”
Block 4: Basket Weave Print is from “Just Wing It” and solids are Bella Solids. Did ya see what I did there? I broke a “rule” already. Haha. |
And all playing happily together! |
