I really wanted to do a hexagon quilt using English Paper Piecing. I love the simple shape and pattern. I’m not sure if I’m going to use the blue fabric yet. I will decide after I am done with the piecing of the hexagons. I may use a geometric black fabric. It will be a smallish quilt, since I only got 5 fat quarters and I like to actually finish insane projects. 🙂
There was a LOT of cutting involved! Since this is my first hexagon quilt, I have been learning a lot as I go along. I had to re-cut the red fabric because I thought I could get by with not using the paper. (I think I’m smart like that.) Instead of cutting a hexagon in the fabric the second time around, I just cut a square, much like you see in the upper right hand corner. It ended up being easier to baste. I am using a water-based glue to baste.
So far, I really like how it is turning out. Stay tuned!
